Sexual Harassment in the Workplace: History, Myths and Prevention

#MeToo unveiled time enduring, though often covered up, acts of sexual harassment in the workplace. Join us as we welcome guest speaker Toni Bowie, and let’s have a conversation to increase our knowledge and awareness about sexual harassment with the latest workplace prevention strategies. You will be more aware and informed about your work environment and steps you can take to protect yourself.

Facilitator: Toni Bowie is a partner with MaxLife, LLC, a coaching and training organization skilled at leading difficult, sometimes uncomfortable, yet highly critical conversations for the workplace. For over 20 years she has trained, counseled and coached organizations in the areas of diversity & inclusion, sexual harassment prevention, and organization, employee & leadership development.

Toni has served on college committees delegated to write policies and procedures for the prevention and handling of sexual harassment and sexual assault matters. She has years of experience developing and conducting sexual harassment and sexual assault prevention training for military personnel with whom she has facilitated over 100 training's registering over 2,500 class participants. Toni continues to facilitate sexual harassment prevention workshops with a focus on awareness, respect and civility in the workplace. Her commitment to work in this area stems from her passion for overall fairness in all aspects of life and her belief that the environment should be conducive for individuals to elicit maximum performance with maximum results.

Always active in community initiatives, Toni recently completed a term serving on the Frederick County Society of Human Resource Management (FCSHRM) Board of directors as chair of the Diversity & Inclusion Committee and serving on the Veteran's Initiative Committee. She continues to serve as a member of the Frederick County of Economic Development's Initiative Advisory Committee for minority businesses and she is the member of Maryland's Washington County and Frederick County Chambers of Commerce and the Maryland Black Chamber of Commerce.

Toni holds a M.A. in psychology from Hood College and a B.A. in communications from Mississippi State University. She holds the Diversity Executive Certification and is certified in organizational development and executive coaching. She and husband Terry are parents to two daughters and grandparents to Reagan.
